Seeds History
Year 2206 AD
The city of Thanatopsis which had exploded with expansion and development in the last several years, seemed to form 2 layers of housing and economy. The expansion upwards took on a completly new meaning. There were new streets and houses and skyscrapers built above the ground floor,...and thus a city was formed up in the sky, and a city formed in the the ground. This year the city was officially sanctioned off and designated into lower and upper levels. This division is reffered to as "The Schism".
Year 2213 AD
The realization that social disobediance, in protests, boycotts, sit downs, and anything else so many people could come up with, were doing nothing to help. Many began to revolt. However that was quickly put to an end with sift and harsh punishment by the authorities on anyone who threatens the above world.
Year 2215 AD
Several semi-organized groups of people have formed in secret, each trying to launch covert attacks, or other forms of rebellion against the upper city, as well as the opressing forces placed within the lower city.
Year 2216 AD
It didn't take very long at all, before most of the groups were caught. The last of the groups choose to remain inactive for a time so as to disarm suspicions of there existence.
Year 2224 AD
The government started a program to create a perfect solider. After thirty years of failure and constant threats of shutdown, they have finally succeeded.
Year 2250 AD
The terrorist organization reformed with at least half there original ranks, and several newcomers, with the appearance of a new leader, bringing very much information of there enemies to them. With renewed hope, and zeal the group hopes there efforts although destructive yield some helpful results. This group was from then on known as "The Locusts."
Year 2254 AD
However, within the city's walls, there is a secret war as well. It takes place between two unknowns; The Rice Institue and the Locusts, each representing there respective origins. But taking the wishes of the lowers, and the institute taking the wishes of the uppers to extremes. The Institute is known to the common populus as a savior from sickness and disease as well as the largest library in the city. But, in truth, it has a much more sinister nature. What very few people know, save the resistance group the locusts, and some conspiracy websites, is that it is a massive genetic experimentatio
n in conjunction with the military. This war will truly turn from squabble between opposing viewpoints into true fighting within this war, as the Locusts prepare to make the most offensive move any resistance group ever has. What will happen, no one can truly say. However, the groups will have no way of going to back to the psuedo-calm as the storm has erupted, full force. One group will be victorious, and another will lose. This war is but a foreshadowing of the even larger qualm between the uppers and lowers in general. No one knows who else may get pulled into the conflict.
September 19th, 2254; 3:24 am - A shockwave rushed across the upper city, blowing out shop windows and setting off alarms. The lower city shuddered as small bits of the ceiling fell to the streets below. All went dark as the wave passed that is, all except the power plant just outside of the upper city. The entire complex was engulfed in flames, power surging and workers screaming as the fire consumed. A small group of insurgents known by the name of the “Locusts” rushed down into the sewers in silent retreat and back to the safety of the lower city just as the authorities and military arrived. The fire was stopped soon enough, as the technologies had advanced just so. However, the two cities would be without power for hours before the alternate generators would kick in, as many of the wires had been singed and some of the units damaged. Arson investgators arrived on the scene, but, before they even began to survey the scene, they already knew who was responsible. For almost fifty years this war had been waged, uppers against Lowers. However, only in the past ten had it turned violent. It was considered a cold civil war; until this night. This was the first and most destructive terrorist act against the Upper City, and the uppers demanded reparations.
